EPS is unique in having a Chartered Surveyor and a Vicar as Founding Directors. Their shared personal vision has enabled them to empower Church communities all over the UK to understand how their buildings can pay for themselves.
The Reverend Andrew Mottram and Emma Osmundsen met through a belief that Church buildings can serve the Christian faith and be a source of income rather than be a relentless financial drain.
Andrew Mottram was Priest in Charge of All Saints, Hereford during a £1.7million redevelopment project which draws up to 4,000 people a week. Emma Osmundsen was Exeter Diocese's first in-house surveyor, appointed to manage their extensive property portfolio and encourage greater sustainability.
“We put theology first, and then see how community need, building design and funding can support it.
“By taking church buildings back to their roots - to the days when markets, meetings and commercial activities were all held in what would have been the largest, strongest building in the area – we can push them into financially buoyant futures which advance their mission.
“We are proud to be independent and pastorally aware, with a proven track record that delivers projects from concept to completion. Our role in supporting Church people in achieving their Christian goals using their legacy of historic buildings is uniquely satisfying.”
EPS's widely-respected expertise has won the company the role as principal consultants to The Churches Conservation Trust (which looks after over 300 redundant church buildings), advisors to the Historic Churches Preservation Trust (which provides grants to Churches wanting to repair or upgrade their buildings), and as advisors to the Church Commissioners.
